TRIVEDI MINGLES AT FAR LEFT-WING CONVENTION IN LAS VEGAS TODAY
Among the possible panels he could be attending: legalizing marijuana, closing Gitmo, defending ACORN-like groups and attacking the Obama administration for enforcing immigration law
(Glenmoore, PA) - Today, left-wing candidate Manan Trivedi is out in Las Vegas building his liberal credentials by schmoozing the Netroots Nation, a collection of basement bloggers who represent the fringe of the Democratic Party. Trivedi, who hasn’t lived in Pennsylvania throughout Jim Gerlach’s tenure in Congress, continues to seek advice from liberals everywhere but Pennsylvania.
Trivedi lived in California and Washington, DC for eight years before moving to Pennsylvania to run for Congress last fall. Last month, he was in San Francisco raising money from liberal donors. Today, he is at the Rio Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas where he mingled and hosted a meet-and-greet.
Among the panels at Netroots Nation this weekend according to their 2010 agenda, which Trivedi maybe attending:
Thursday 3pm - "Fighting Back: Responding to Attacks on Community Organizers and Progressive Groups” – This panel teaches activists how to defend groups like ACORN and other "progressive organizations” from attack. Many of these "progressive non-profit” groups routinely attack Jim Gerlach on a near-weekly basis.
Saturday 10:15am - "Pushing Back Against the ‘Enforcement Only’ Immigration Regime” - This panel teaches attendees about ways to push back against the Obama administration for enforcing immigration law, particularly as the number of deportations are increasing since the Bush administration.
Saturday 1:45pm - "Marijuana Policy and Politics” - This panel will show how "embracing marijuana as a serious issue to be addressed in the context of a broader populist movement”, can take this issue out of the "political ghetto” to make "genuine progress.”
Saturday 1:45pm - "Close Gitmo and Use our Legal System” - This panel talks about how progressives can help use political pressure to close the military detention facility for terrorists, and try them in civilian courts on US soil - a dangerous proposition to ensure terrorists that want to destroy America have lawyers and constitutional legal protections.
Saturday 4pm - "How Immigration Reform Sustains a Progressive Majority” - This panel teaches attendees about the political opportunities immigration reform (read amnesty) provides for the Democrat Party.
"The fact that Manan Trivedi continues to associate with the most fringe elements of the Democrat Party proves he is proud liberal willing to rubber stamp the Pelosi agenda in Washington,” said Mark Campbell, Gerlach spokesman. "Manan Trivedi would fit better in Los Angeles or Washington, where he has lived for the last eight years, than here in Pennsylvania where his positions are simply out-of-touch.”
