GERLACH STATEMENT ON WELCH'S WITHDRAWAL, ENDORSEMENT
(Glenmoore, PA) - Republican Congressman Jim Gerlach released the following statement after Steve Welch stepped aside today at the Chester County GOP Convention, and endorsed his re-election bid for Congress:
"I am honored to have earned the Chester County Republican Committee
endorsement today and I'm extremely grateful for the support of the hardworking
committee members who have been the driving force behind every one of
my victories. This endorsement clearly signals that Republicans are
energized and united in purpose this year. Our fight for common sense
solutions that create jobs, let families keep more of their paychecks
and shrink our crippling deficits is well under way.
"In that effort, I
certainly appreciate the energy and passion Steve Welch has brought to
this race, and I appreciate his call for important tax reductions and
spending controls, including earmark reform. I wholeheartedly agree
with the House Republican initiative to pass a moratorium on earmarks
so that common sense can be instituted on how tax dollars are spent,
and I look forward to working with all who share this view to achieve
this critical reform."
