Campaign Update-Gerlach Sweeps Chesco Straw Votes

On Eve of Endorsement Convention, Gerlach Sweeps Chester County GOP Straw Votes, Lands Endorsement of Chester County Republican Chairman

In the final straw poll before Saturday's Republican Committee of Chester County endorsement convention, Jim earned 14 votes out of 16 cast in the Exton area of Chester County (Areas 10 & 26). That means Jim has now won each of the straw poll votes held and is on very strong footing to receive the endorsement of the county Republican Party.

In addition, Chester County Republican Chairman Skip Brion formally endorsed Congressman Jim Gerlach's re-election bid yesterday, saying "Congressman Gerlach is without a doubt the best candidate to win the Republican Primary this May and he is our best candidate who can keep the 6th Congressional District in Republican hands in November." Read more here. Jim also has the endorsement of Montgomery County GOP Chair Bob Kerns, and every member of the Pennsylvania Republican congressional delegation.

In the four county district, Chester County makes up over 45% of all votes in a Republican primary.

Montgomery County Area 2 Unanimously Endorses Gerlach

Last night, the Republican leaders in Area 2 of Montgomery County (Pottstown) unanimously endorsed Jim's re-election bid. He is grateful for their support. In 2008, Jim ran nearly 10 points ahead of John McCain in Pottstown.

A new poll released by the Gerlach campaign this week showed Jim with a very strong lead heading into the May primary. The survey of 300 likely Republican primary voters showed Jim leading, 71-6%. You can read the polling memo here.
